Whitehead to host Girls Advancing in STEM Conference in April

gains2-webWhitehead Institute, Greenwich Academy, and the GAINS Network will co-host the Girls Advancing in STEM Conference, April 12-14, 2015, where participants will attend sessions led by STEM professionals from a variety of fields, tour local lab facilities, and have the opportunity to connect with presenters and local STEM professionals through small group sessions and a career mixer.

The GAINS Network is a virtual community connecting girls and women with a passion for STEM subjects to support, encourage, teach and inspire one another. They connect high school girls and young women interested in STEM with women leaders working in STEM-related fields. They provide role models, virtual mentors, and networking opportunities for women and girls at various stages of their educations and careers. The first annual GAINS Conference will bring together girls from member schools as well as girls from local public and private schools.

Whitehead Institute is pleased to announce this exciting partnership which aims to:

  • Connect girls interested in STEM with peers and role models.
  • Give girls access to information about a variety of STEM careers through interactions with STEM professionals, undergraduates, and graduate students.
  • Expose girls to STEM-focused research being lead by women through workshops, tours, and technical talks.
